When attempting to launch Vivaldi version 2.10, it could fail to startup if any version of Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP) is installed with the Application Control feature (this is also part of other Antivirus products, such as Norton).
If you cannot update these products, you can work around the problem via a temporary launcher shortcut.
Creating a temporary (workaround) launcher
- Right click on your Desktop and choose “New → Shortcut”
- Paste in the following–triple click to select the entire line:
%COMSPEC% /C start vivaldi --disable-features=RendererCodeIntegrity
- Click “Next”
- Give it a name of “Vivaldi workaround”
Non-standard or multiple installs
If you have multiple installs of Vivaldi or use the Standalone install type as your main installation, create a normal shortcut to the “vivaldi.exe” from within your installation folder and simply add the following to the end of the “Target”
We also strongly suggest you name the shortcut “Vivaldi workaround”, so that you remember to delete it after a proper fix is issued. Continuing to use the shortcut in the future (after a fix), would mean that you permanently disable an important security feature
