Vivaldi for Enterprise – FAQ

1. When is the expected availability of an officially supported Enterprise release?

The official launch version is not decided yet, but Vivaldi 8.3 release will be pretty solid, and should contain many key policies. In general, enterprise support will be released gradually.

2. Will ADMX templates and management through Active Directory Group Policy be supported?

We will distribute an ADMX file that can be used with Active Directory, Microsoft Intune, and similar solutions.

3. What is the planned scope of configurable policies?

Most Chromium policies relevant to Vivaldi. Some key Vivaldi settings will be turned into policies.

4. Will there be centralized configuration of Extensions, Bookmarks, Search Engines, the Start Page, Sync, VPN, privacy settings and other browser features?

Yes. Centralized management of Vivaldi is handled through policy management.

5. Will there be managed browser updates, including update channels and the possibility of delaying feature releases while continuing to receive security updates?

Features will not be delayed; enterprise users will receive the standard Vivaldi experience. We are creating policies to disable major features such as VPN and Mail.

6. Will MSI or another system-wide package suitable for unattended deployment be supported?

We are creating a separate MSIX distribution for managed deployments and updates, but it contains a regular Vivaldi build. The only difference is the auto-update mechanism: MSIX uses its own mechanism, which integrates with Windows Update.

7. Will Enterprise use the standard Vivaldi browser build or a separate enterprise build?

Both the standard Vivaldi Stable and Vivaldi Snapshot builds can be managed via policies. There will not be a separate enterprise build.

8. Is a centralized management console planned and, if so, will it be cloud-based or available for on-premises deployment?

We have no plans to develop our own centralized management console.

9. What is the planned licensing and pricing model, including any minimum number of users or devices?

There is no licensing model. But we will operate with a tiered support model ranging from free support (community-based) to paid/commercial support (standard, premium, enterprise tiers). There is no minimum number of users/devices, but the three paid/commercial tiers will be a function of the number of users.

10. Will enterprise management capabilities require a paid license or will commercial support and additional services be the main paid elements?

No paid license. Only paid (or free) support.

11. What is the possibility of accessing an evaluation or pilot version when these features become available?

Our Snapshot release channel serves as the evaluation/pilot channel.

12. Where should I direct my inquiries?

Please send an email to [email protected].
