Post on the Forum

Start a new discussion

Before you start a new thread, search the forum to see if there already is a discussion about the same topic. If there isn’t:

1. Make sure you’re logged in to your Vivaldi account.
2. Click on New Topic in one of the forum categories above the list of topics.
   If you don’t see the New Topic button, you’re not allowed to post in that category (for example, Announcements).
3. Make sure the category you’re going to post in is fitting for the topic. Click on the drop-down menu in the top left corner to change the category.
4. Enter a short and clear title.
5. Write the content of the message.
6. Select tags, if available for the category.
7. Click Submit to publish the topic.

You can use simple formatting options available in the post editor, add links, images, and emojis. It’s also possible to style your post using Markdown formatting.

When reporting problems with the browser, tell us which platform and it’s version you are on, Vivaldi browser version, extensions (if any), system specification (CPU, RAM), connection type and architecture (X32 or X64), and give us the steps to reproduce your issue.

Ask as a question

In addition to starting a general discussion topic, you can also mark your topic as a question. Question topics without a highlighted answer will have an Unsolved label in front of the topic title. When the topic starter or in some cases Vivaldi Forum Moderators have chosen the best answer, the topic will have a Solved label in front of the topic title and a copy of the best reply will be displayed below the first post. That way other Forum visitors with the same question don’t need to read through long threads to find the answer.

To mark your topic as a question:

1. In the post’s editor, click on the little arrow next to the Submit button.
2. Select Ask as question.
3. Submit your topic.

When you forgot to mark the topic as a question when you started the new topic, you can still do it by editing your post.

To mark the topic as solved:

1. Find the post that answers your question the best.
2. Open the 3-dot menu in the bottom right corner of the post.
3. Select Mark as correct.

You can only highlight one reply.

Reply to a topic

To reply to the discussion in general, click on the blue Reply button at the top or bottom of the comment thread. To start a new discussion based on that topic, click on the small arrow next to the Reply button and select Reply as Topic. If the reply is meant for specific user(s), tag them by typing @ and their username in your comment.

To reply to a specific comment, use the Reply and Quote options next to the comment.

Edit post

In case you want to add something to your comment or just want to fix an accidental typo:

1. Locate your post or comment.
2. Click on the post menu on the right (next to the upvote button).
   
3. Select Edit, which opens the post editor.
4. Make the changes.
5. Click Submit.

Delete a post

To delete your post:

1. Click on the post menu on the right (next to the upvote button).
2. Select Delete.
3. Confirm your choice.

Notifications

When you create or reply to a topic, you’re automatically added as a watcher to these topics and will get a notification, when someone comments in the same thread.

To stop receiving notifications:

1. Open the topic.
2. Click on Watching in the menu below the first post or after the last post.
3. Change to an option you prefer:
   • Watching – notified, when someone replies and topic appears in Unread,
   • Not watching – won’t get notified, but topic still appears in Unread,
   • Ignoring – won’t get notified and topic doesn’t appear in Unread.

To change notification settings globally:

1. Click on your avatar in the top right corner of the Forum.
2. Select Settings from the menu.
3. Change your preferences in Notifications & Sounds.
4. Save the changes.
